405 miles later, Corrie met Norman in Glasgow. They drove a further 145 miles to Aberdeen to board
the 14-hour ferry across the North Sea to the Shetland Islands, Norman’s childhood home. Three
weeks were spent learning traditional tunes in person and from the ghosts of archival tapes. These melodies were then worked like clay from the banks of the burn, shaped into the album we present to you.
Enjoy,
Norman&Corrie
'It is a rare and wonderful thing to encounter genuinely original
music, the salt-bite of the North Isles is thrust head-first into a brave new experimental world. Here we have two musicians transcending both jazz and folk; utterly in control, and creating a singular voice like no other'
'The folk foundations may be deep, but Norman&Corrie build a music that defies definition. Using a variety of instrumentation they make a sound with more depth than a duo rightly ought. The effect is by turns stunning, mesmerising and dazzling.'
